Kenya to Experience High Rainfall
Most parts of the Kenya are likely to experience more than normal rainfall in the next seven days (19-25th April 2022) with moderate temperatures during the day and night, according to Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD’s) weekly weather forecast.
Also, some areas including parts of the Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Central and South Rift Valley, South-Eastern lowlands, Highlands East of the Rift Valley, Coast and North-Eastern Kenya are likely to experience isolated storms.
According to KMD, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, West-Pokot, Siaya, Kisumu, Bombay, Busia, Migori, Baringo, Nakuru, Narok and Laikipia counties are likely to experience occasional morning rains with afternoon showers and thunderstorms expected over several places.
However, night showers are likely to occur over few places occasionally spreading to several places and maximum (day-time) temperatures likely to range from 22 to 32 degrees Celsius and minimum(night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 9 and 20 degrees Celsius.

Also, morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over few places in Turkana and Samburu counties with maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 25 to 38 degrees Celsius while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 13 and 28 degrees Celsius.
In Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi Counties, mornings are likely to be cloudy with occasional rains over few places. Afternoon and night showers are expected over several places while maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 23 to 31 degrees Celsius and minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 6 and 18 degrees Celsius.
Moreover, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties are likely to experience morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers with maximum (day-time) temperatures likely to range from 27 to 39 degrees Celsius and minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius.
Occasional morning rains are likely to occur over few places in Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties. Afternoon and night showers are likely to occur occasionally spreading to several places with maximum (day-time) temperatures likely to range from 23 to 35 degrees Celsius while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 13and 23 degrees Celsius.
Also, Mombasa, Tana-River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties are likely to experience Morning, early afternoon and night showers are expected over few places occasionally spreading to several places with Maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 29oC to 35oC while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 24oC and 28oC.
During 11-17 April, 2022(the previous week), rainfall was recorded over several parts of the country in where isolated storms occurred in a number of counties including Taita-Taveta, Kericho and Kirinyaga.
According to the organization, there was increase in the rainfall amount over most parts of the country during 11 to 17 April 2022 compared to the week of 4 to10 April 2022.
While temperature day-time (maximum) temperatures decreased over most parts of the country with only a few stations like Meru, Kitui and Lamu recording slight increases. Night-time (minimum) temperatures increased over most areas though a few stations like Kisii, Dagoretti and Mombasa recorded slight decreases.
