OTULA is the founding editor of ScienceAfrica. He has a strong interest in popularization of science, technology and innovations for sustainable development in Africa. Prior to founding Science Africa in 1994, Otula served for a decade as a pioneering science editor/writer with Nation Media Group, Nairobi Kenya and is a renowned science journalism coach and mentor. Otula has served in several boards, including the East African Science and Technology Commission; National Biosafety Authority (NBA-Kenya) and the Agricultural Information Resource Center. Has been a member of the African Federation of Science Journalists, International Science Writers Association and has associated with the World Federation of Science Journalists, among others. He holds an MA in International Relations; BSc in Microbiology, and a BA in Journalism from the University of Texas at Arlington USA.
