-5 November 2016- African nations which are still busy charting their malaria eradication plans may have to learn special lessons on how to eradicate malaria from the little known Asian nation with tongue twisting name Kyrgyzstan.

World Health Organization in a press release dated November 4th 2016 says that Kygyzstan is the first country to receive the WHO Certification of Malaria Elimination. In South America  Costa Rica, El Salvadpr and Surinam were honoured for reducing malaria burden.

Still the new WHO Strategic Advisory Group on Malaria Eradication will address issues on the feasibility, expected costs, timelines and potential strategies for achieving eradication in the coming decades.

The WHO Global Malaria Programme is calling for applications for membership on the Technical Expert Group on Surveillance, Monitoring and Evaluation. The deadline for applications is 20 November 2016.
