"photo: Sven Torfinn. Kenya, Baringo district. June 2015. East Africa’s woody invaders ‘Woody Weeds’. Pictures for the ‘Woody Weeds’ Project, a research project on the impacts of woody invasive plant species in certain areas. Prosopis and Lantana are 2 of these species. Communities are affected by the species. In some instances their livestock are affected or the plants encroach on village land.
Pictures are taken during field visit in Baringo by the project team under supervision of Dr. Urs Schaffner, Head Ecosystems Management CABNI Switzerland and Simon Choge, professor at KEFRI (Kenya Forestry Research Institute) Nairobi.
During the field trip the research team spoke to local chiefs and farmers and visited the KEFRI branch office in Baringo."
