My name is Alfred Nyakinda. From January 2019, while studying at Daystar University, I had the opportunity to work as an intern at Science Africa.
During this period, I gained experience in science journalism as I reported on a variety of topics. I found that this type of journalism is rooted in tackling real issues affecting people such health, agriculture, environmental preservation and policy making.
At Science Africa, I had the chance to learn about as well as practice Solution Journalism. This gave me experience in going beyond just highlighting the problems facing the continent today as it extends to presenting solutions that have worked not just in theory but also in practice.
In addition, I had the opportunity to attend workshops designed to train journalists on how to improve their skills.
Furthermore, I was introduced to professional bodies that continue to help me in my career today.
